Julie D. Giles, DVM Dr. Julie Giles graduated from North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. Upon graduation, Dr. Giles, a North Carolina native, moved to Washington, DC to work for the American Red Cross where she did research in molecular biology. Her work in the lab did not provide the contact with cats and dogs that had first inspired her decision to become a veterinarian. She first practiced as a clinician on Capitol Hill in 1990. After ten years at Dupont Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Giles fulfilled her dream to return to practice on Capitol Hill when she opened Union Veterinary Clinic in Fall, 2002. Dr. Giles lives with her partner, Carolyn; four cats, Bunny, Alice, Mad Max and Yo Yo; and Finnean, a flat-coated retriever. |

Mow, Head Clinic Cat When he is not busy with his modeling career,(you may recognize his work in local publications), he calls Union Vet Clinic home. A familiar presence, Mow effectively manages his hectic daily schedule of sun-napping, greeting patients, and begging for food. He is known for his unnatural ability to ply himself into the smallest of “cozy” spaces, and his general machismo. A free-spirit to the core, Mow made his way through several homes before coming to Union. Even so, he is admittedly “too much cat” for a small place like Union, so occasionally he will simply work the doorknobs and let himself out to wander the back.
